Havdalah Prayer

The Edot HaMizrach order for concluding Shabbat over wine, spices, and flame.

When to say it

After Shabbat has ended, before resuming ordinary weekday activity according to halacha.

פסוקי פתיחה

רִאשׁוֹן לְצִיּוֹן הִנֵּה הִנָּם, וְלִירוּשָׁלַיִם מְבַשֵּׂר אֶתֵּן: אַל תִּשְׂמְחִי אוֹיַבְתִּי לִי כִּי נָפַלְתִּי קַמְתִּי, כִּי אֵשֵׁב בַּחוֹשֶׁךְ יְהֹוָה אוֹר לִי: לַיּהוּדִים הָיְתָה אוֹרָה וְשִׂמְחָה, וְשָׂשֹׂן וִיקָר: וַיְהִי דָוִד לְכָל דְּרָכָיו מַשְׂכִּיל וַיהֹוָה עִמּוֹ: וְנֹחַ מָצָא חֵן בְּעֵינֵי יְהֹוָה: כֵּן נִמְצָא חֵן וְשֵׂכֶל טוֹב בְּעֵינֵי אֱלֹהִים וְאָדָם:

The First to [come to] Zion [will say] Behold they [Your children] are coming & for Jerusalem, a messenger of good tidings, I shall appoint....

יקח הכוס בידו ויאמר:

כּוֹס ישׁוּעוֹת אֶשָּׂא, וּבְשֵׁם יְהֹוָה אֶקְרָא:

The Cup of Salvations, I shall Lift & in the Name of the Hashem I Shall call.

אָנָּא יְהֹוָה הוֹשִׁיעָה נָּא שתי פעמים:

Please Hashem Save Now. Please Hashem Save Now.

אָנָּא יְהֹוָה הַצְלִיחָה נָא שתי פעמים:

Please Hashem Give Success Now. Please Hashem Give Success Now.

הַצְלִיחֵנוּ, הַצְלַח דּרָכֵינוּ, הַצְלַח לִמּוּדֵינוּ, וּשְׁלַח בְּרָכָה רְוָחָה וְהַצְלָחָה בְּכָל מַעֲשֵׂה יָדֵינוּ, כְּדִכְתִיב יִשָּׂא בְרָכָה מֵאֵת יְהֹוָה וּצְדָקָה מֵאֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעוֹ: לַיּהוּדִים הָיְתָה אוֹרָה וְשִׂמְחָה, וְשָׂשֹׂן וִיקָר: וּכְתִיב וַיְהִי דָוִד לְכָל דְּרָכָיו מַשְׂכִּיל, וַיהֹוָה עִמּוֹ: כֵּן יִהְיֶה עִמָּנוּ תָמִיד:

Give us success & make prosper our matters & our [Torah] learning & send blessing, abundance & success to all our undertakings. As it is written “He shall receive a blessing from the Hashem & benevolence from the G-d of his Salvation.” “To the Jews there was light & joy, happiness, & honor.” And as it is written “And David was prosperous in all his matters & G-d was with him.” Thus should be with us always.

במוצאי יו"ט שאינו מוצ"ש אֵין מברכים על הבשמים ועל הנר

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה, אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, בּוֹרֵא עֲצֵי (עִשְׂבֵּי) (מִינֵי) בְשָׂמִים:

Blessed are You, Hashem, Our G-d, King of the Universe, Who types (plants) (trees) of [pleasant] aromas. (Smell the Pleasant Spice)

Flame

מאורי האש

יכופף ראשי אצבעותיו הימניים אל תוך כפו כשהאגודל מכוסה תחתיהן, ויהיו כפופים לפני הנר כנגד פניו, ויסתכל בצפורניו בלבד ולא בתוך פני האצבעות ויברך (שער הכוונות)
