Havdalah Prayer

רִאשׁוֹן לְצִיּוֹן הִנֵּה הִנָּם, וְלִירוּשָׁלַיִם מְבַשֵּׂר אֶתֵּן: אַל תִּשְׂמְחִי אוֹיַבְתִּי לִי כִּי נָפַלְתִּי קַמְתִּי, כִּי אֵשֵׁב בַּחוֹשֶׁךְ יְהֹוָה אוֹר לִי: לַיּהוּדִים הָיְתָה אוֹרָה וְשִׂמְחָה, וְשָׂשֹׂן וִיקָר: וַיְהִי דָוִד לְכָל דְּרָכָיו מַשְׂכִּיל וַיהֹוָה עִמּוֹ: וְנֹחַ מָצָא חֵן בְּעֵינֵי יְהֹוָה: כֵּן נִמְצָא חֵן וְשֵׂכֶל טוֹב בְּעֵינֵי אֱלֹהִים וְאָדָם:

The First to [come to] Zion [will say] Behold they [Your children] are coming & for Jerusalem, a messenger of good tidings, I shall appoint....

קוּמִי אוֹרִי כִּי בָא אוֹרֵךְ, וּכְבוֹד יְהֹוָה עָלַיִךְ זָרַח: כִּי הִנֵּה הַחֹשֶׁךְ יְכַסֶּה אֶרֶץ וַעֲרָפֶל לְאֻמִּים, וְעָלַיִךְ יִזְרַח יְהֹוָה וּכְבוֹדוֹ עָלַיִךְ יֵרָאֶה:

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of Hashem has shone upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick cloud the nations; but Hashem will shine upon you, and His glory will appear over you.

יקח הכוס בידו ויאמר:

(Lift Cup)

כּוֹס ישׁוּעוֹת אֶשָּׂא, וּבְשֵׁם יְהֹוָה אֶקְרָא:

The Cup of Salvations, I shall Lift & in the Name of the Hashem I Shall call.

אָנָּא יְהֹוָה הוֹשִׁיעָה נָּא שתי פעמים:

Please Hashem Save Now. Please Hashem Save Now.

אָנָּא יְהֹוָה הַצְלִיחָה נָא שתי פעמים:

Please Hashem Give Success Now. Please Hashem Give Success Now.

הַצְלִיחֵנוּ, הַצְלַח דּרָכֵינוּ, הַצְלַח לִמּוּדֵינוּ, וּשְׁלַח בְּרָכָה רְוָחָה וְהַצְלָחָה בְּכָל מַעֲשֵׂה יָדֵינוּ, כְּדִכְתִיב יִשָּׂא בְרָכָה מֵאֵת יְהֹוָה וּצְדָקָה מֵאֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעוֹ: לַיּהוּדִים הָיְתָה אוֹרָה וְשִׂמְחָה, וְשָׂשֹׂן וִיקָר: וּכְתִיב וַיְהִי דָוִד לְכָל דְּרָכָיו מַשְׂכִּיל, וַיהֹוָה עִמּוֹ: כֵּן יִהְיֶה עִמָּנוּ תָמִיד:

Give us success & make prosper our matters & our [Torah] learning & send blessing, abundance & success to all our undertakings. As it is written “He shall receive a blessing from the Hashem & benevolence from the G-d of his Salvation.” “To the Jews there was light & joy, happiness, & honor.” And as it is written “And David was prosperous in all his matters & G-d was with him.” Thus should be with us always.

סַבְרֵי מָרָנָן. ועונים: לחַיִּים.

Hearken, our masters / To Life

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה, אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, בּוֹרֵא פְּרִי הַגֶּפֶן:

Blessed are You, Hashem, Our G-d, King of the Universe, Who creates fruit of the vine.

במוצאי יו"ט שאינו מוצ"ש אֵין מברכים על הבשמים ועל הנר

At the conclusion of a festival that is not also Saturday night, no blessing is recited over the spices or the flame.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה, אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, בּוֹרֵא עֲצֵי (עִשְׂבֵּי) (מִינֵי) בְשָׂמִים:

Blessed are You, Hashem, Our G-d, King of the Universe, Who types (plants) (trees) of [pleasant] aromas. (Smell the Pleasant Spice)

יכופף ראשי אצבעותיו הימניים אל תוך כפו כשהאגודל מכוסה תחתיהן, ויהיו כפופים לפני הנר כנגד פניו, ויסתכל בצפורניו בלבד ולא בתוך פני האצבעות ויברך (שער הכוונות)

He should bend the tips of his right fingers into his palm, with the thumb covered beneath them. They should be bent before the flame opposite his face. He should look only at his fingernails and not at the inner side of the fingers, and recite the blessing. (Shaar HaKavanot)

Blessed are You, Hashem, our G-d, King of the universe, Who creates lights of fire (See light on nails)

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה, אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, הַמַּבְדִּיל בֵּין קֹדֶשׁ לְחוֹל וּבֵין אוֹר לְחֹשֶׁךְ וּבֵין יִשְׂרָאֵל לָעַמִּים וּבֵין יוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי לְשֵׁשֶׁת יְמֵי הַמַּעֲשֶׂה. בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה, הַמַּבְדִּיל בֵּין קֹדֶשׁ לְחוֹל:

Blessed are You, Hashem, Our G-d, King of the Universe, Who distinguishes between the Holy & the mundane, & between light & dark, & between Yisrael & the Nations, & between Seventh Day & the Six Workdays. Blessed are You, Hashem, Our G-d, King of the Universe, Who distinguishes between the Holy & the mundane. ...

שותה רביעית ומברך "על הגפן". ואם שתה פחות מרביעית אינו מברך
